Reflection Pendant
The gold glows and flashes with movement as it reflects the light.
This pendant was created for an exhibit titled “Reflections”, to be interpreted as I wish. My interest is in how the shiny textured and colored metals change appearance depending on the light that is being reflected as the piece moves. The texture on the back of the pendant began with an image that looked like sunlight reflecting on water.
Heavy 24k gold leaf and thin gold foil were collaged and fused to fine silver using the keum boo technique. A dip in liver of sulfur was the final step and greatly increased the contrast as each layer of 24K gold reacted to the patina differently.
Sterling silver, fine silver, 24K foil and leaf, sterling silver chain.
Height including bale – 40mm Width – 23mm Chain – 24mm (can be worn shorter)
