Sizing rings

The rings I make are one-of-a-kind, often with textured bands and/or applied gold, and can not be re-sized. The finished ring is carefully measured on the appropriate standardized ring mandrel. I recommend having your fingers sized at a local jeweler before purchasing a ring. Keep in mind that narrow bands and wide bands require that different ring sizers be used.

In order to assure that the desired ring will fit the finger it is meant for, the correct size must first be determined. This is best done with the appropriate ring sizer…. either narrow ones or wide ones depending on the style of ring, Finished rings are sized on standardized mandrels of the design matching the style of the ring being measured. The more common style is a tapered round mandrel. The less common, yet very important style, is one with a flat side. This one is used to get a more accurate measurement of a “table” style ring as shown in photo below. I like making and wearing large rings and find this style most comfortable when the band is tapered.
