ABOUT

I discovered a passion for color and the endless possibilities for fusing glass to metal in the late 1950s when I took a summer class at the high school. I immediately bought my first kiln with my babysitting earnings, set up a worktable in my bedroom, and was on my way. Later, I continued my art studies at San Francisco State University, taking several metal arts classes while concentrating on the art of photography. After graduating with an MA degree in art, I built my jewelry and photography businesses.

From 1986 to 2013, I taught a great variety of metal arts classes, including enameling, at Monterey Peninsula College. I am now officially retired from teaching and photography for others and am keeping busy with making jewelry, working on my “Shop”, gardening and enjoying life in beautiful Monterey, California.

With many additional metal-working and coloring techniques learned and applied throughout the years, I find that what ties it altogether is my love for color, pattern and texture. I am presently exploring electro-etching metal, a technique that allows me to combine my photography, metal working and metal coloring passions.

Go to my blog to learn more about me and the many techniques I use.
