Opal Drifters 1
Glass bead featuring “opals” drifting in a shimmering pale aqua ocean. This necklace is part of the Sea Fantasy Collection of jewelry inspired by the Monterey Bay Aquarium that I live near. From the microscopic plankton to the large jellies, all are amazing and beautifully displayed.
I created the lampwork glass bead using silver enriched glass rods and frit from Double Helix Glass. The silver content in the glass creates the colorful light reflecting shine and opalescence. The diameter of the bead is 16mm and it is 11mm wide.
A sterling silver tube lining is riveted in place and provides a finished setting for the bead. The 16” sterling silver foxtail chain from Italy features a handmade “S” hook.
