This quillback rockfish brooch features a highly textured surface reminiscent of rocks. It is especially suited to wearing on a jacket or vest.
The texture was created by melting tiny bits of silver on a copper shape until molten and flowing. As the silver cools it contracts causing the surface to reticulate (create wrinkles). The copper has a higher melting temperature and remains solid or smooth below the silver.
