Beads on this page were created by adding various frits (small bits of glass) to the surface of the bead. A random pattern develops that looks much like gem material in a matrix of less precious stone. Including a thin layer of metal leaf (silver, copper, gold, or palladium) in the mix of materials can add a great variety of "organic" color that mimics stones found in nature.
