Beads are measured and listed by millimeters for most catalogs and books. For many of us, thinking in metric does not come naturally. For this reason, I am including the above examples for reference purposes. If you are ordering beads, please be sure you have a clear idea of the size.

Some beads are quite small and are meant as spacers or "companion" beads. Larger beads might qualify as "focal beads", to be used as a pendant, a zipper pull, or as the center piece in a necklace or bracelet. I consider the bead in the photos above to be a "medium" sized bead.
